The process

A Clear and Collaborative Process – Every Step of the Way

Working together with transparency is key to a successful immigration journey. I follow a simple yet effective process to guide you through your immigration matters. From our first consultation to the final outcome, you’ll always know what to expect, what stage you’re at, and what needs to be done next. This approach helps avoid surprises, keeps things on track, and ensures we’re always aligned in moving toward your goal.

My Process - How We'll Work Together

Every person’s immigration journey is unique. Here’s how we’ll typically work together, step by step:

Step 1: Free Initial Consultation (15 minutes)

This is a no-obligation chat to understand your immigration goals, any challenges you’re facing, and what pathways might be possible for you. This isn’t a detailed assessment but a starting point to see whether you’d like to explore further support.

Step 2: Full Assessment (Optional)

Depending on the type of visa you are seeking, we may proceed directly to the next stage, or you may prefer to first request a comprehensive assessment. This is particularly useful if you have a complex background, or want a clearer picture of your options before committing to ongoing services.

The full assessment looks at your qualifications, work history, family situation, and any special circumstances. I will also identify any potential risks (such as health or character issues) and outline, at a high level, how those might be addressed. This stage does not include tailored document guidance — that comes once we formally engage.

Step 3. Engagement & Service Agreement

If you’re ready to proceed, we’ll sign an Engagement Letter outlining the scope of services, my professional fees, and any relevant INZ application fees (based on the current fee schedule at the time of the quote). You will also receive my Terms of Service for full transparency.

If you choose to go ahead with the full service, the assessment is included — there’s no need to pay separately for that.

Step 4: Full Immigration Support

Once we’ve signed the Engagement Letter, I will begin providing tailored support based on your specific needs. Most often, this involves preparing and submitting a visa application, but it may also include other services — such as responding to a PPI letter, handling INZ requests, or advising on your immigration status.

My support includes:

  • Giving you a personalised document checklist based on your case

  • Keeping you informed of any relevant immigration policy changes

  • Drafting your visa application or written responses as required

  • Advocating on your behalf to Immigration New Zealand

  • Preparing you for interviews with INZ if needed

  • Managing all communication and follow-up with INZ, so you don’t have to

You’ll only need to provide documents or responses if specifically requested.

Step 5: Visa decision

I’ll keep you informed every step of the way and let you know the final decision from Immigration New Zealand and notify you the results within 24 hours.  It also marks the completion of my service as per our written agreement.

Case-by-case: Additional Charges (If Applicable)

All the steps above are included in your quoted fee unless special circumstances arise. Additional charges may apply in cases where:

  • A medical waiver is required due to health concerns raised by INZ

  • A character waiver is needed possibly due to past offences or previous visa declines

  • You receive a PPI (Potentially Prejudicial Information) letter – a formal notice from INZ requesting further explanation or documents before making a decision on your visa

Responding to these situations often requires extra time, documentation, and a more detailed advocacy approach. I will provide a clear quote for this additional work, and no further service will proceed without your approval. These matters are typically time-sensitive, so timely cooperation is essential to keep your application on track.
